Mechanistische Flügelmusik V___________________________________2007

A small fan with felt glued to the edges of the blades is placed inside a grand piano and allowed to stroke the strings. The fan was left untouched for the duration of the piece, so the composition is indeterminate bar the choice of which string(s) it plays. The night before I made these pieces, two birds flew into the windows of the studio, they lay dead outside all weekend. The german word flügel means both wing and grand piano.
